LEGACY AUTOMATION – How Outdated Tools Limit Innovation

IT is at the centre of an ongoing revolution digital business. Deloitte’s recent global CIO survey1 asked more than 1,400 C-level IT and business leaders what’s expected of them and their teams. They must deliver on two connected priorities: Align to business strategy and transform business processes. To meet those challenges, you would think that most organizations would be focusing the majority of their IT budget on innovation, but that’s not the case. Most enterprises, including the US Federal government, use 60 to 80% of their IT spend on operations and maintenance (O and amp;M)— which is simply upkeep and maintenance for legacy systems2. The remaining small percentages aren’t enough to deliver the necessary innovation.
