The modern data center operates with little human activity, yet in aggregate worldwide, consumes nearly 3% of the world’s power production. As digital transformation increases, data center energy consumption could soon reach 8%, by one estimate. Corporate data centers are expected to provide uninterrupted availability of a wide range of applications to a diverse set of endpoints, from on-premise employees on secure connections to

potentially billions of globally distributed edge devices. These data centers, which are the critical infrastructure for telecommunication/5G, social media, banking, news and entertainment, and many more services, are the backbone of today’s economy
