Workday
Published by: Research Desk Released: Jul 17, 2020

At Workday, we talk a lot about how our technology is fundamentally different than the competition. A big reason for this is because we started from scratch and were able to build our technology based on what we call the Power of One. It’s this philosophy—along with our objectbased, in-memory technology—that allows us to solve the challenges that have plagued legacy enterprise software systems for years.

It also allows us to evolve and weave in new technologies. Prior to Workday, people worked with twodimensional transactional data. It was flat—rows and columns. And it was difficult to work with— you had to extract data from one system and plop it into another system, and then it could be analyzed. But then you were basing your decision on outdated, stale data. So, we closed the gap by embedding the whole notion of transactions and analysis into one system. The data is all in one place. And because it is based on an object-oriented technology, you can run a report, drill down into the details, and take action.
