Highlights –

  • The company’s new unified Zoom One interface, which is now in testing, will accommodate the Outlook-like Mail and Calendar in addition to its other capabilities like Team Chat, Whiteboard, Phone, and Meetings.
  • Zoom has a brand-new AI-powered chatbot called Zoom Virtual Agent that can help organizations handle more calls without hiring more human agents.

Zoom is releasing new Mail and Calendar clients and services as part of its most recent wave of business innovations. These improvements were first revealed at Zoom’s annual Zoomtopia event. Available in Beta, the Outlook-like Mail and Calendar will be available in the company’s new unified Zoom One interface in addition to other tools like Team Chat, Whiteboard, Phone, and Meetings.

With the launch of Zoom Team Chat, the firm has just entered the Slack and Microsoft Teams markets, and the race to provide a complete hybrid work solution that integrates email, video, and instant messaging is now on. Zoom is more directly competing with Microsoft 365 (known as Office 365) by allowing businesses to connect to their current email provider or, if they don’t have an IT department, have it hosted for them.

Small businesses that made it through the pandemic would need to switch from outdated email servers to one that is more secure, especially if they lack the IT staff to manage them. Now businesses can consider Zoom Mail and Calendar services as an alternative to services like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace – they are likely already utilizing Zoom meetings anyway.

According to Zoom Head of Product Joseph Chong, Zoom Mail Service users’ communication is end-to-end encrypted. “The Zoom Mail and Calendar Services (beta) are targeted at small-to medium-business customers who particularly value email privacy,” according to Chong. Users won’t have to switch between applications while group texting, starting a video conference with the team, or replying to a client’s email because of this all-in-one solution.

Zoom’s recently revamped Mail and Calendar webpage introduces a new “@zmail.com” domain that customers can use for their accounts, while Zoom One Business plan customers can build their own unique domain. Another page attests to the compatibility of Zoom Mail and Calendar as a client with Microsoft 365 (exchange) and Google services.

Zoom calendars make it simpler to start meetings by eliminating the need to fiddle with Zoom links or allowing participants to see who is already there before entering. You can quickly check which meetings have been completed and the link to the recorded version without waiting for employees to finish uploading and personally emailing it to your team.

At its event, Zoom also unveiled a few additional new features. One such tool is Zoom Spots, which aims to “bring the fluid interactions of in-person work” by keeping the cameras on for you and your coworkers in a virtual coworking environment. Zoom Spots will be generally available in the early months of 2023.

Additionally, Zoom has a brand-new AI-powered chatbot called Zoom Virtual Agent that can help organizations handle more calls without hiring more human agents. The release date is planned for the year 2023.
