  • According to Qualcomm, the new solution delivers AI inferencing at the edge, improves security and operation-effectiveness with real-time edge computing, ML, AI, and analytics.
  • The new device is efficient for AI analysis where it supports smart camera IoT networks and video surveillance-as-a-service based models.

During the International Security Conference and amp; Exposition in Las Vegas (ISC West), Qualcomm Technologies introduced its latest smart camera IoT solution.

It is believed that the Qualcomm QCS7230 solution will expand the Qualcomm Vision Intelligence Platform portfolio, driving the digital transformation of enterprise security and public safety segments, designed to safeguard environments with smart devices at the connected, intelligent edge.

According to Qualcomm, the new solution delivers AI inferencing at the edge, improves security and operation-effectiveness with real-time edge computing, Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and analytics to provide safer and more protected spaces, cities, and enterprises.

Because of the pandemic, organizations and communities have embraced smart cameras to reimagine the new normal. At the same time, digital transformation has played a major role in supporting social distancing, tracking indoor and outdoor occupancy levels, monitoring masks, and enhancing operational processes.

Smart cameras, equipped with connectivity, AI, analytics, and cloud technologies, support cities, businesses, and entities with the real-time intelligence required for enhanced insights to ultimately improve the quality of life for communities and drive enhanced business decisions and outcomes, according to the company.

“With the digital transformation of industries, there has been a heightened focus and need for the growing number of smart devices at the connected, intelligent edge,” says Siddhartha Franco, Director of Business Development, Qualcomm Technologies. “Today’s cameras require superior connectivity and interoperability, powerful edge computing, and AI capabilities in addition to protections for security and privacy — all of which Qualcomm Technologies is uniquely suited to provide. Qualcomm Technologies’ expansive portfolio of smart camera solutions make it easier for businesses and entities looking to deploy smart cameras to support a variety of use cases across industries from creating safer communities to informing better business decisions.”

The new solution aims to fulfill broader needs for smart cameras across industries and support expanded end-to-end solutions for smart cameras using IoT as a Service (IoTaaS) model. This will support customers who plan to transition from traditional Video Management Software (VMS) models to end-to-end service-based capabilities with IoTaaS.

It is also said to power Edge AI services with the building blocks required to support businesses and entities looking to deploy smart cameras and intelligent IoT devices. These devices will support video collaboration, enterprise and home security, 360-cameras, access control, dash cameras, wearable cameras, etc.
