Apple has registered for a new domain name called AppleCoronavirus.com, in collaboration with Google, to design a new website that will help to spread awareness about COVID-19. The process was initiated last week by the registrar name CSC Corporate Domains, an organization specializing in protecting domains for large corporations like Apple.

“The new record indicates that Apple took possession of the domain name on Friday.” The domain does not currently point to an existing website.

Apple and Google are releasing an integrated approach that incorporates application programming interfaces (APIs) and system-level operating systems to track communications better.

The tech teams have together decided to design such Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that enable interoperability between iOS and Android devices using apps from public health authorities by next month. Users will be easily able to download these applications officially from their respective app stores. Both organizations will then focus on integrating COVID-19 monitoring within their operating systems, meaning that more and more users will be able to use it in the coming months.

“In the coming months, Apple and Google will work to enable a broader Bluetooth-based contact tracing platform by building this functionality into the underlying platforms,” the companies informed.

The collaboration of the tech giants has also led to developing a COVID-19 tracking system with privacy-enabled measures for Android and iOS devices. As compared to more traditional COVID-19 monitoring initiatives, Apple and Google rely on an entirely anonymous solution, using Bluetooth instead of positioning or GPS.

Since coronavirus can be transmitted by proximity to the infected persons, officials of public health have identified touch tracking as a powerful method for helping to control its spread.

Apple has also launched a website and software for COVID-19 with a test tool and other information about the latest coronavirus pandemic.
