To boost customers’ productivity and efficiency, big data company Alteryx Inc. announced recently that it has developed a new artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI engine for the Alteryx Analytics Cloud Platform.
The company unveiled Alteryx AiDIN at its annual user conference Inspire 2023 as a new platform that “supercharges the democratization of analytics and dissemination of insights across the organization.” Alteryx AiDIN combines the strength of Alteryx Analytics outputs with generative AI and large language models.
ETL, or extract, transform, and load, tools, are what Alteryx is best known for. Enterprises use them to prepare vast amounts of data for analysis. The company’s Analytics Cloud platform offers built-in connectivity to business intelligence tools like Experian and Tableau with data scrubbing, data mining, and geospatial analytics capabilities.
By utilizing the power of generative AI, Alteryx AiDIN expands the functionality of Alteryx Analytics Cloud and offers a new automatic insights feature called Magic Document. With the help of this, Alteryx can produce PowerPoint presentations and smarter, in-context data visualization summaries based on a given data set.
Workflow Summary for Alteryx Designer, the data preparation tool, is another new feature that allows users to document business processes in natural language for governance and auditability.
Alteryx AiDIN also powers the OpenAI Connector, which allows generative AI to be integrated into Alteryx Designer workflows. The company said clients could create compelling natural language presentations based on particular datasets using a drag-and-drop tool, transforming how users present and share data.
Suresh Vittal, the Chief Product Officer, promised, “With generative AI, users unlock an entirely new way of using insights to transform their business and solve their biggest challenges.”
According to Holger Mueller of Constellation Research Inc., while generative AI infusions are commonplace as every company tries to cash in on the trend, it’s interesting to see it applied to data operations.
Muller raised his concerns by saying, “Data operations is an area that hasn’t shown a great deal of innovation lately. As such, it’s nice to see Alteryx coming up with a genuinely new use case that leverages the capabilities of generative AI to help business users better understand data-driven insights. It’s a promising new feature that many will feel is worth exploring.”
Alteryx also announced a significant update to its Analytics Cloud Platform at Inspire, including new location intelligence features that support spatial analytics. According to the company, this allows users to visualize and analyze spatial data easily for identifying patterns and trends previously hidden in traditional spreadsheets. They can gain location-based insights to improve customer experiences and business efficiency.
According to the company, the Analytics Cloud Platform additionally benefits from enhanced governance designed to make analytics more scalable, allowing users to access insights from their data more swiftly with improved control and lower risk.
