Launching of Anuket project
LF Networking, also abbreviated as LFN, is a harmonizing open-source networking platform that facilitates operational excellence and collaboration across open-source networking projects. Further, it allows rapid interoperability, deployment, and adoption of cloud-native functions (CNFs) and virtual network functions (VNFs), services, and infrastructure.
Publicized by LFN, Anuket project is developed by melding CNTT (The Cloud iNfrastructure Telco Taskforce) and OPNFV (the Open Platform for NFV).
Anuket tools and artifacts boost the global communications community to deliver compliant network services faster, securely, and reliably and escalate the transformation to cloud-native infrastructures.
Anuket is designed to deliver standardized reference infrastructure specifications and performance and conformance framework for virtualized and containerized network functions. Further, it allows robust and faster onboarding into production, accelerating communications digital transformations, and reducing costs.
Ensuring, technology meets business and operational needs, it is essential to continue OPNFV’s legacy of operating upstream with partnership across other open-source projects and CNTT’s operator focus. Open-source projects include ODIM, LF Networking, LF AI, LF Edge, and CNCF. Anuket will maintain CNTT’s relationship with GSMA, which will continue to publish the project’s Reference Model work.
What expert’s think
Heather Kirksey, Vice President, Community, and Ecosystem Development, Networking at The Linux Foundation, commented: “It’s incredible to see the evolution of what began as the Open Platform for Network Functions Virtualization over six years ago.” Kirksey further added, “With Anuket, we are making it easier and more efficient for CSPs to transform their networks and save money, with one, end-to-end platform.”
Walter Kozlowski, Principal Architect, Cloud Infrastructure Services at Telstra, Cloud Infrastructure Reference Model Lead at Linux Foundation Networking, and Chair of GSMA Open Infrastructure Task Force commented: “The Anuket project is unique in covering Operator requirements collection and normalization, subsequent open-source software development, through to Industry certification programs of ecosystem implementations, all under a single initiative.” He further added, “I am proud to serve in the role of a co-chair of its Technical Steering Committee, and I am excited by the unique opportunity this project creates for my company and for the whole industry, in the area of network transformation and related telco open infrastructure.”
