Indonesia welcomed its first data center, JAK2, which will be available for access by the country and the wider Southeast Asia region. It was launched by SpaceDC, a company that focuses on creating data centers and builds suitable infrastructure needed to grow its business across Southeast Asia.
“It made sense for us to open our first facility in this market. With the connectivity afforded by this facility, local and global brands will now have access to a world-class data center facility to connect to the SEA region – a region whose Internet economy has been valued at over US$100 billion, and is expected to swell to US$300 billion by 2025,” says SpaceDC CEO Darren Hawkins.
He added that Indonesia has a population of 276.6 million and is home to the largest digital economy, and has the scope to yield the largest digital economy. Global data center authority Uptime Institute has certified JAK2 as a Tier III facility, and the data center has been built to the highest global standards. JAK2 guarantees 99.982% availability and is supported by onsite power generators and transformers, as well as an N N backup system.
Additionally, the data center is kept secure with the help of biometric, onsite security teams, and keycard access control. And since the company SpaceDC takes extreme care of the green design, the data center JAK2 is built with smart green features, including a green energy generator and thermal wall technology for effective cooling.
SpaceDC says that there are continuous efforts in the project in order to reduce pollution and carbon emissions. JAK2 also has dedicated staging and storage rooms along with office spaces and meeting rooms.
It has the provision to support the organizations that wish to manage the operations remotely. JAK2 is equipped with technicians ready to provide support 24/7, including managing deliveries, updating software, and performing compliances.
After JAK2, the company is preparing the launch of JAK1, designed to be a 24 MW Tier III facility featuring a larger campus with high capabilities for customers planning to grow their IT infrastructure. The launch date will fall in 2021.
