Immuta Inc. has received a new strategic investment from Databricks Ventures, the investment arm of Databricks Inc., a big data and machine learning software provider. The data security startup made the announcement recently.
Immuta has been positioned as a trusted partner of choice for data security and access control by Databricks, supporting the longstanding partnership between the two companies. The investment is set to strengthen this partnership further. The undisclosed investment amount will be utilized for product development to enhance the integration between Immuta and Databricks platforms. Additionally, the funding will be allocated towards new go-to-market initiatives to boost enterprise adoption.
Immuta, a company established in 2015, has introduced a universal platform for data teams to manage access to analytical data sets in the cloud. The company’s Data Security Platform offers discovery of sensitive data, control over security and access, and tracking data activity.
The platform offers native integration with leading cloud vendors and is designed to fit easily with cloud environments. The service satisfies the vast majority of data security requirements for most organizations and complies with the cybersecurity framework created by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Immuta has reported a 200% increase in annual recurring revenue for its Data Security Platform software-as-service offering due to its global expansion into Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. Databrcks’ investment comes at a time when Immuta is experiencing rapid growth. The U.S. Army, Roche Holding AG, International Consolidated Airlines Group SA, and Mercedes-Benz Group AG are notable Immuta clients.
Co-founder and Chief Executive of Databricks’ Ali Ghodsi stated, “Over the last six years, we’ve been successfully collaborating to serve global enterprise customers like ADP, Swedbank, and many others. By integrating directly with Databricks Unity Catalog, Immuta provides a seamless way for our joint customers to protect their data in the Databricks Lakehouse.”
The joint partnership with Databricks, according to Immuta CEO Matt Carroll, means that Immuta is now integrated into some of the biggest and most intricate cloud data projects across industries. Carroll said, “With this new investment, we’re going to make our tight integration with Databricks Unity Catalog even better so that our customers can take data security to a new level and continue to unlock more value from their data.”
Following ServiceNow Inc.’s comparable investment in Immuta in February, Databricks made a similar investment.
