Samsung Electronics declares its collaboration with Microsoft on an end-to-end, cloud-based private 5G network solution. During this agreement, both companies are planning to enhance the virtualization of 5G solutions. The virtualization of 5G solution includes the deployment of Samsung’s virtualized RAN (vRAN), Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) technologies, and virtualized Core on Microsoft Azure.

The principal aim of the collaboration is to boost innovation that reduces hurdles for deploying private 5G networks in enterprises, including entertainment venues such as stadiums, retail stores, and smart factories. Via a cloud-based approach to the market, the businesses aim to accomplish greater cost efficacies in 5G deployments.

The collaboration

The collaboration between the two companies highlights cloud networks’ primary benefits that can escalate 5G expansion for enterprises and deploy private 5G networks faster. Application of fully virtualized 5G solutions on a cloud platform will allow enormous enhancements in the flexibility and scalability of systems for enterprises and mobile operators.
